Individual Therapy & Counselling

What to Expect

Kate creates a welcoming and supportive space to help you feel at ease on your first visit to the clinic.

  • The first therapy session focuses on understanding your needs for support and goals for positive outcomes.
  • Sessions run for 50 minutes and can include talking, learning psychological skills and if suitable, mindfulness meditation and relaxation training.

Types of Therapy

The approaches in evidence-based therapy will be discussed and planned collaboratively with you from the first session and may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps you identify unhelpful thoughts and the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviour
  • EMDR Therapy, a highly effective, evidence-based psychological treatment recommended by the World Health Organization for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is also useful in overcoming adverse life events such as loss, relationship issues and adjustment to significant change.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach that teaches psychological skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively whilst also helping you to find clarity and meaning in life.
  • Psycho-education including The Daring Way™ method from Dr. Brené Brown, which teaches you to build resilience and bravery using inspiring tools adaptable for daily life.
